YouSendIt Express- Getting better everyday

In our continuing effort to make digital delivery faster, easier, and more convenient we’re constantly improving our desktop application, YouSendIt Express.

YouSendIt Express is now available as a free download for Windows and Mac. All YouSendIt users, both free Lite users and paid subscribers, can use Express to easily send their large or important digital content without opening a browser.

Express users have the benefits of resumability and up to 25% faster uploads than the web application - especially important when sending large files up to 2 GB in size.

Our paid customers also have access to the new Express features, which include the ability to send an unlimited number of files,  create  free ZIP files and  send entire  folders! (This feature is coming soon to our Mac version) 

We are on a mission to save you time and money while we eliminate email bounce backs, and end your FTP frustrations.

We know you’re comfortable with your email interface so we’ve added a subject line option and increased the message length. You’ve now got 2000 characters of message space.

Drag-and-drop and right-click sending options make sending files and folders very convenient. For faster sending, you can now import your email contact list to your YouSendIt account and Express will auto-fill the address when you begin to type. Also, any new email addresses you type will get added to your contact list.

YouSendIt is Getting Faster

I am very excited to announce the initial roll out of distributed storage solution that powers up our services.

Now, with multiple data centers around the world, we are able to provide a much improved data transfer experience to millions of our users. Our analysis shows that file transfer speed is a function of the distance to the data center (among other things). As you move farther the data center, your transfer speed drops 2 times every 1000 miles. Uploaders will particularly benefit from our distributed data centers because uploads are usually several times slower than downloads and any improvement in upload speed is much more noticeable.

Here is how it works... As a new data center is configured and is brought up, our turnkey solutions allows us to make it live without taking the site down. Immediately the new servers will start serving new requests for file transfers. But not just any requests - the traffic that is directed to the data center is selected based on IP mapping database. User IP is extracted from the request and the closest data center is selected to service this particular request. Combine this with our resumable upload enabled desktop application (available at http://www.yousendit.com/cms/standalone-app) and you will get a truly worry-free experience uploading very large files.

We are currently in the process of setting up more data centers. The selection of the locations for new data centers is based on careful analysis of YouSendIt usage patterns to provide an improved experience for our subscribers. Stay tuned for more news from the YouSendIt technology team!
