YouSendIt Soars Past 10 Million Users

On November 30^th, 2005 at around 5:35PM PST, YouSendIt registered its first user.  It has been a long road since then but just this morning -- a little ahead of schedule -- we registered our 10,000,000^th user.

 

I want to thank everyone, specifically the loyal YouSendIt user community, who has helped to get us here.  I can’t begin to describe all the heroics performed by the YouSendIt team and encouragement from the YouSendIt fan-club that made this milestone possible.  You have all out-done yourselves!

 

I specifically want to congratulate, Barry Smith, MD and Director of The Rogosin Institute, who is our 10 millionth user.  The Rogosin Institute was established in NewYork City in 1983 as an independent, not-for-profit institution for research, treatment, and education in kidney disease, diabetes, hypertension, cancer and lipid (cholesterol) control.  Its primary mission is to advance the understanding of these diseases and to bring the resulting research to patients and clinics as quickly as possible. It employs over 350 doctors, nurses, researchers and administrative employees.

YouSendIt provides the Institute with a an efficient way to get critical research out to the field as quickly as possible. They send data from clinical trials to potential new therapies, research data, protocols, and digital imaging files to researchers, medical panels and government agencies for review.  All of this data has to be sent back and forth quickly, reliably, and, very importantly, securely. 

In addition to this milestone, YouSendIt has experienced its two best quarters in the history of the company this year.  We now have more than 100,000 paid subscribers and have completed over 10,000 new pay-per-use transactions per month (yes, you can just pay for just one file send at a time!). Take some time to reflect on the journey -- 10,000,000 of anything is a lot!  Building the world’s most populous city of individuals and businesses happily engaging in conversations that can’t happen anywhere else, is no small feat.

Another is being able to use YouSendIt Express from PCs and Macs wherever I am. Now, if you can figure out a way to host those large video files, I would quit Vimeo and use YouSendIt.
