YouSendIt Going Mobile

At YouSendIt, we are working on ways to make sure our users can access and use our service in the ways most convenient for you. Currently we are designing a mobile application for and would love to hear your thoughts on what functionality you would like to see.

A list of potential features include the ability to:

• Download files
• View files
• Track receipt/downloads of files
• Upload files
• Any others?

By the way, in case you aren't familiar with all the ways you can send and receive files via YouSendIt, here's a list:

YouSendIt Website: Access from any computer, anywhere by just going to our website at www.yousendit.com. Those of you who are on the go may appreciate the ability to send, receive and track files wherever you are.  

YouSendIt Express (this is a favorite of many of our users): Express is a desktop application that allows you send and receive files right from your desktop. It is 25% faster than the web, provides resume-ability (if your internet connection is lost, your transfer will resume when your connection is restored), and you can zip and send folders!

YouSendIt Microsoft Outlook plug-in: For those of you using Outlook, this is a no-brainer. The Outlook plug-in allows you to keep using your mailbox and if and when the need arises to send a file you want to track or a file that is too large, all you do is click a "Send by YouSendIt" icon and voila! (And by the way, if you take a minute to configure your preferences, files will be sent via YouSendIt without even having to lift a finger!)

Other Plug-ins: We have a list of plug-ins available that allow you to send right from the application you are working in. The list includes: Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Final Cut Pro, iPhoto, Aperture, Photoshop, CoreDRAW and PaperPort.

Cash-Saving Technology Tips for Small Businesses – Part Two of Two

Building on last week’s blog entry (below) of cash saving tips for small businesses, here are a few more ideas.

Help others – free your servers – A typical Exchange server offers only 500 MB of email storage per user. You can free up your servers cheaply and easily by eliminating email attachments. For example, with a plug-in for Microsoft Outlook users can send files of up to 2 gigabytes directly from email via YouSendIt, and store them on YouSendIt’s servers for anytime access. YouSendIt add-ins for other everyday programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and even the desktop render the email attachment obsolete.
