Customer Spotlight – Litigation Support Services

October 14, 2011

By Kirk McCracken, VP of Marketing, Litigation Support Services

YouSendIt has quickly become an integral part of the way Litigation Support Services does business and we could not be happier with our relationship.

Since our inception, LSS has bucked the industry norm in the litigation support field, stressing a quality product for our clients rather than aiming to gain clients via a low price point and then nickel and dimming them to death for all the extras.  It is common practice in the industry to undercut your competition with a transcript page rate slightly lower than them and then charge the client extra for condensed copies, word indexes, asciis, e-trans and other additional features.

From the beginning LSS has done things a little differently, we have never charged extra for any transcript add-on and we never will.  Though our page rate may be a couple of cents higher than our competition’s, when you compare apples to apples, your best value is always LSS.

As we looked at ways to increase the value of our services we found that we needed a solution to get our product to our client in the quickest, most efficient way possible.  Two years ago, we began offering free exhibit scanning and linking to the transcript along with free video-text synchronization on our depositions.  These are additional value-added services that further serve to separate our service from our competition.

The problem we ran into was the greatly increased size of digital copies of our product made digital delivery extremely burdensome.  However, once we used YouSendIt, that problem quickly disappeared.  With YouSendIt we can quickly, easily and securely send large files (usually between 50 – 100 megs) to clients and allow them to have access to their transcript, exhibits and video files within minutes and at no charge rather than waiting a day for a express delivered copy that incurs a delivery charge.  The download page is also branded with our logo and company information allowing for additional name recognition to our clients.

We could not be more pleased with YouSendIt and we will continue to use their services long into the future.

For more information please click here www.jerseycoast-redcross.org

The American Red Cross, Jersey Shore Coast Chapter, started using YouSendIt this year, when like most users, was referred to us by a vendor. Kim Price, Development Manager, was pleasantly surprised how simple and easy it was to share documents. For those of you that do not know the Red Cross is not funded by the government, so every donation is extremely helpful. Approximately 91 cents of your dollar goes directly to Disaster Relief.

Once discovering YouSendIt, Kim began saving precious time, which she used to spend on figuring out quick and cheap ways to share documents. Kim became a paid customer because she valued the time she was saving and now has the ability to do more important things. “Thanks to YouSendIt, I was able to get out a last minute (very large) file for a news cast that was important for the marketing of an upcoming fundraising event. YouSendIt has definitely given me more time to work on other important projects, as well as increase the efficiency within our whole department.”

Blazin in Texas – Levon Louis A YouSendIt Ambassador

August 18, 2011

It’s been over 100 degrees at my Austin area home for weeks, but the house is all sorted out, the studio is setup, and the AC is blowing cold – which is fully appreciated after being out for a few days.  Anyway, the music has been heating up around here lately too!

I have been testing some new, live dubstep-leaning material with small-scale shows in Austin (Loft 718) and Houston (Mango’s: Riddim Tuesday) in preparation for larger events and festivals on the horizon. The tune-up gigs have been fun, and met with positive response.

I have synced up with producers E1000 in Quebec City and JayTee in Seattle to share our music. Sharing these files has been made super easy because of the new MyFolders feature on YouSendIt.

We are sharing the music we make in a common folder, and spinning each other’s’ tracks at events across USA and CAN. E1000 sent me music for my show in Houston, he played some of mine in Montreal and later this month JayTee will spin some of both of our new jams at the Burning Man!

Getting back to my personal music has been awesome this summer; I needed the break following a few years of heavy game audio production. But of course when I have time for making new music it means I am not busy with a major media project – which pays the bills way more consistently than music alone.

BUT as fate would have it, I just landed a super-sexy video game project this week and will be heading up sound effects production for a franchise that is close to my heart and will be proud to talk about in more detail in future blogs… For now, that one “remains classified”. It will feed me through the winter and challenge me in some exciting, new ways.

So stay tuned for more on that, it’s going to be EPIC!

Architecture and Technology

August 15, 2011

Architecture is a passion, Architecture is a struggle, Architecture is a love/hate relationship. It has been said that good Architecture should simply enclose you while great Architecture should excite you in one way or another, incite an emotional reaction from you and offer a variety in one place. Architect Philip Johnson once said “…all great architecture is the design of space that contains, cuddles, exalts or stimulates the person in that space.” Along with my business partner Tim Poole, we strive to design spaces that live up to that quote. If fact, poole+drennan was formed to bring a design based approach to problem solving in architecture. Our design process is a collaborative effort which requires us to work in partnerships. Sharing of information with colleagues, clients, engineers, craftsmen and artists is essential to this process.

One challenge we face with the transfer of information is how do we securely send large files, track delivery and receive files back all with a simple and seamless application for both us and our recipients. Up until 5 years ago, we could send files back and forth via email, but over the years, file sizes have grown larger. Also, with more and more IT departments blocking large files, we turned to FTP servers. These proved to be unreliable and difficult for inexperienced FTP users. To provide an effortless means of transferring our collaborative information and help facilitate our design process, we started using YouSendIt.

YouSendIt allows us to not only send and track large files, but it offers our clients and consultants a way to securely send files back to us. YouSendIt also allows us to brand our emails for an integrated and consistent look with everything we send out. YouSendIt strives to continue to improve their service with new offerings. Currently we are using a new service called MyFolders to share drawings to multiple contractors for bidding. We are able to store all of our files so that we can easily access them from anywhere – web, mobile, and desktop.

As Architects we are constantly looking for new ways improve and simplify drawing distributions. We have found a straightforward, uncomplicated and valuable product with YouSendIt.

Customer Spotlights – A Few Great Stories

July 8, 2011

We recently have been reaching out to our base to hear their YouSendIt Success Stories. We have had so many great stories come back I had to share a few. And we always love to hear more, so feel free to post your own YouSendIt story in the comments.

“YouSendIt has become a vital tool in our ability to assist customers.  As the Technical Support Supervisor for a Battery Monitoring Company sometimes we have to send various data files, of varying sizes and formats, to customers.  We send .pdf files, .doc, .zip files, sometimes .exe files for software updates, and other data files used for our software.  YouSendIt allows us to easily interact with our end-users and customers and give them the information they need quickly, reliably, and from Outlook.  We have found that YouSendIt is much more reliable than using a customer email server in relaying the information to the customers as their server will block or sometimes unintentionally corrupt the data files. Every Support Engineer in our company has a YouSendIt account so that we can quickly get information to our customers.  It will always be a vital part of our business.” Chris, Technical Support

“We are a small publishing agency that represents living classical composers. People often contact us looking for musical works to consider for programming with orchestras and opera companies. They want to look at the score and listen to the piece, which we can oblige them by sending a PDF file of the score and an MP3 file of the recording. We don’t want to post these files on a public website, but prefer to have people contact us so we know who is making the request. And these files are generally too large for regular email.

YouSendIt is the perfect solution for us. We use Outlook as a mail client, so whenever we send a file over 1MB we automatically get a prompt asking if we want to use YouSendIt. Select “yes” and it uploads the file automatically, creates a link in the email, and puts a 7 day time limit on the file. We really like that, so our copyrighted works are not sitting on a server where anyone can download them forever; the link expires. It’s simple, easy, efficient, and scalable as our business changes and grows. There are other services out there that are similar, but I’ve yet to see one that works as well as YouSendIt. They seem to have a solid understanding of what people need and how to make it practical and easy. I recommend it to anyone who needs to send a large file to someone else. In other words, to everyone I know.” – Bill, Publishing

“I’m a time manager because I have to be. I wear multiple hats. I’m a court reporter and business owner, wife/minister’s wife with numerous responsibilities, local and long-distance proactive grandmother of five – and crazy about every one of them!  I’m also an author, speaker, columnist, and talk-show host in my spare time.  In every arena I operate, voluminous documents, pictures, media packets, audio and video files are uploaded and downloaded almost daily. Before discovering the beauty of YouSendIt, my time was bogged down, along with my computer.  YouSendIt freed me! It is amazing the speed at compressing multiple large files, as well as sending them across the hall or around the world! YouSendIt maximizes my time, and in today’s world time must be productive.” – Joyce, Court Reporting

Customer Spotlight – Meisha

June 14, 2011

Meisha is fronted by Michelle Oakley and her fragile, haunting vocals.

Sounding like a punch up between Portishead and Kate Bush, stirred by Skunk Anansie, lead guitarist & producer, James Earp, who was recently signed to Sony ATV for his songwriting, takes the opportunity to experiment with their sound in the studio while their live act showcases the songs with a raw and fervent energy.

The six members of the band are a dedicated collective, collaborating in the songwriting process and going to great lengths to create powerful, beautiful songs, while layering the instruments to create thoughtful, ambitious and complex sounds.

“We’ve used YouSendIt all the way through our album as a tool for sharing ideas and even musical parts for the productions.  Email is usually unreliable, so the fact that you get a confirmation from YouSendIt telling you the other person has received it, is great! You make sure no ideas get lost.  YouSendIt is much faster at sending files, you don’t want to be waiting ages while you’re trying to be creative and get the ball rolling with songs and recordings.  Anytime we left our hard drive at the studio and we did recordings somewhere else, I would always YouSendIt the entire session back to our studio, ready to go for the next day.  For getting ideas to each other very quickly and reliably, nothing beats YouSendIt.”

Oldie but Goodie Customer Video – AMAG Pharmaceuticals

April 7, 2011

In October 2010 YouSendIt sponsored the Gartner ITxpo in Orlando, FL (as some of you may remember). We just found a video of one of our best customers (Nate from AMAG Pharmaceuticals). AMAG had been a customer for almost a year, but at Gartner ITxpo we were all able to meet him face to face for the first time. Below you can listen to his reaction of meeting all of us for the first time. Enjoy!
