Our CEO, Ivan Koon, participated on a panel at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group’s Breakfast Club this week. The panel, which consisted of Silicon Valley Business Executives, spoke about Silicon Valley jobs and economy. When describing what made the Silicon Valley so unique these words came up: nerds & rich people, fearlessness, diversity, willingness to fail, innovation, hope, and mystique.
As amazing and talented as the Silicon Valley workforce is, there are still many challenges affecting its high growth. The main difficulty businesses face today is obtaining and keeping the best talent possible. Another challenge is in relation to speed, whether that is speed of government approvals, or being able to quickly scale. The panel also discussed public issues that affect business decisions.
The Silicon Valley is a large area and the lack of infrastructure, mainly mass transit, makes it hard for the best talent to travel from one side of the Bay to the other, limiting the distribution of the best people. Also as a fellow person living in the Bay Area, I know and feel the affect of high cost of living and expensive healthcare, which also means higher costs to all the companies in the area. How can our governments help? The panel had some ideas. First our CEO, Ivan Koon, suggested that companies have a flat tax, cutting some of the overhead costs. The rest of panel suggested speedier government approval processes, high quality wireless everywhere, and driving change with data.
Aside from the challenges, everyone on the panel was extremely optimistic for the future of job growth. They all predicted high growth for the Silicon Valley in 2012.
You can hear Ivan Koon speaking on the “The CEO Show” for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group on 1590 KLIV tonight (Friday Dec. 2nd) at 8pm! We hope everyone can tune-in!

It’s all about access.
You want access to your content anywhere on any device at any time.
Before you can flip through photos and videos, or share and manage content with vendors and clients, or e-sign a recently approved contract, you have to access the latest version of your files. If your cloud content isn’t synced to your devices, you can’t reliably access anything. So how do you sync your content?
With YouSendIt it’s easy — you don’t do a thing. It’s done automatically. When you upload or modify new content to YouSendIt, updates are instantly synced, and the most current version of your files can be accessed from all your systems, the desktop, web and mobile phones.
Imagine, it’s after hours. You learn by email that you have to sign a new PO before your project launches. You access the PO from your mobile device, e-sign it, and then save it or send to your new business partner. Next morning you access the signed document from your desktop at work; not once do you have to manually sync your files to access the latest versions.
It’s done for you.
Now you’re probably familiar with the YouSendIt web app, made famous for sending large files. If that’s all that you know about us, you’re missing out on the full range of our services. In addition to the web app, you should consider downloading our free desktop and mobile apps.
Once you sign in, you can start sending, sharing, signing, and storing your content without ever worrying about whether or not you’re accessing the most recent version of your content because YouSendIt puts your digital universe in sync.

One of YouSendIt’s new features is cloud folders, which you can access from the web, your desktop, or your mobile device. The great thing about folders in the cloud is you can now store for free up to 2GB of files. Like I said before your data is synced across all your devices, so you can access all your files at anytime, anywhere you are. If you are a paid users with our ProPlus account you get unlimited storage, perfect for anyone that needs to access over 2GB on the go.
I know this sounds great, but you are thinking how secure can this really be?
With YouSendIt’s free online file storage, you’ll know your data is secure:
- YouSendIt employs the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol
- YouSendIt obtained a Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type 2 security report
- Password Protection/User Authentication
- Ability to create private/shared folders
- Read Only or Read/Write access with a shared folder
How to Use YouSendIt’s Online Storage
There are a couple ways to create a folder depending on what device or application you are in. The most common way to create a folder is through the web. After you login, go to the Folders Tab found at the top of your screen. Next, the ‘create a folder’ button is in the top right in the Folder Tab. Next upload any files you wish from your computer into the cloud. You finally have the option of sharing this folder or keeping it as a private folder. It is that easy!
The next way to create a folder is through your mobile device, iPhone or iPad. For those of you that are Android users you can sign up for the beta version here (go to the bottom of the page). See image below for how to create a folder on your iPhone or iPad. All you need to do is press the ‘plus’ symbol in the bottom left corner. Then all you need to do is give your folder a name.
The Final way to create a folder is in the desktop application. Currently we have the beta version of our Microsoft app (Mac users you can sign up for the beta here). First you open windows explorer and go to your YouSendIt folder in your favorites. Then create a new folder by right clicking, selecting new, and then new folder. Just like you have always created folders in your Windows Explorer.

Don’t forget that any changes made to the documents or any added/deleted folders are synchronized across all connected devices (desktop, mobile, and web). You can then access the most current versions of your folders at any time.
Now Try it for yourself! Happy Storing!

I am sure some you know and have used our cool e-sign feature already. But for those of you that do not yet know how to sign documents electronically, this post is for you. Using YouSendIt’s new electronic signature feature, you can sign digital documents right from your mobile device or from the web . Electronic signatures are great because you can forget your fax machine, couriers, and snail mail!
How to Add an Electronic Signature
First you need to either be on a computer or your mobile device (iPhone or iPad). Then you need to go into your YouSendIt cloud folders, and open a document; YouSendIt e-signature feature supports the file formats pdf, doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx, and tiff. Next, you can decide whether you would like to e-sign (with your mouse or finger), add an image, a date, or type in any text. You can then move, re-size, or rotate what you have added to the document. Finally you save and then send your signed digital document to the designated recipient.
Secure Electronic Signatures
There is no scanning required; every signature is just like you had hand written it. Your signature can not be altered or changed once the document is saved. It is just like you had hand written your signature then scanned the document to make it digital.
YouSendIt’s electronic signature feature is a secure way to easily sign digital documents. You eliminate the time it would take to print a file, sign it, and then fax it. You save time and money on sending it through a courier or through snail mail.
Whether you have a free account or you are a corporate user, you can easily sign documents electronically with YouSendIt. Get Started Today!

Why Share a Folder
Data is created to be shared, but there needs to be a means to move it from person to person or business to business, reliably and securely. The rise in different content format, such file-based documents, photos, images, video files, and audio files, means the collaboration system has to be robust, yet flexible. The speed and ability to provide access to a number of different people is essential.
Sharing a folder online allows you to place multiple files in a folder, post them online and then allow one or many to access them. You can share and access the files and folders anywhere there is an Internet connection. It eliminates many of the hassles of email and it doesn’t require special software. Recipients do not need to join or sign up for anything in order to access or download files from a folder that you’ve shared. When you have large files or a large group of people you want to share files with, sharing a folder solves this problem.
How to Share a Folder
Once you have logged in to YouSendIt, enter your email address and the addresses of your recipient(s). Select and upload any file type. To share the folder, click the ‘Send It’ button and within seconds your files will be uploaded.
Your designated recipients will find an email message (which you can personalize) that contains a link to the folder you uploaded.
Some Cool Features
With any download you will find a time and date stamp. YouSendIt means security in sharing folders. If you have an iPad or smart phone, such as an iPhone, there’s YouSendIt Mobile App to easily share folders on the go.
YouSendIt gives you the freedom to share a folder up to 50MB for FREE or 2GB with a paid account. Plus, depending on your plan, you can store your folders and files indefinitely or set a download expiration date. Finally, you can control who has access to download your folder, by have different permissions set to each folder, such as, read/write or read only.
Hope this has helped you understand a little more about sharing folders with YouSendIt.

With stats like “In 2010, 1.9 billion people sent 107 trillion emails” and “60% of adults in 2011 use email and search engines daily”, it is no wonder that the pace of business is changing. The “volatile economic environment, increased competition, and rapid change of customer preferences” are some of the top factors that have affected this change.
As the usage of smart phones, social media, and the internet has greatly increased so has the way businesses run on a daily basis. Not only are people internally expecting more up-to-date devices, but are expecting things to happen faster. Consumers are going through the same transition. Businesses are expected to go to market faster, respond quicker, and increase the flow of information internally and externally. Some businesses are falling behind, but for what reasons? And what is causing the delays? To find some answers to these questions check out Progress Software’s Infographic on GigaOM – How technology is changing business.

Today YouSendIt is launching our very first radio campaign. We are working with 5 of the most popular personalities on radio. ”Who?” might you ask — they are Stephanie Miller, Neal Boortz, Mark Levin, Jim Rome, and Howard Stern! We gave each person a subscription to YouSendIt, so they can share their experience of our services with their listeners.
Radio personalities, big and small, face challenges with sending, sharing, and signing content via email. They deal with the same frustrations that most of us have on a daily basis. We wanted to help them by giving them a YouSendIt ProPlus account. Not only will they share their experiences, they’ll also share an exclusive offer with their listeners. I’m tempted to tell you, but you’ll have to listen to find out!
